Frequently Asked Questions

What is parental inteference?

Parental interference involves one parent taking unnecessary steps to prevent the children from having a relationship with or spend time with the other parent. The interfering parent may be motivated by good intentions or bad faith. The proper focus in trying to remedy parental interference is to explain to the judge how the "gatekeeping" behavior is unnecessary and also harmful to the children. Stay focused on the impact on the children, not the impact on what you view as your rights.

Are "Parental Interference" and "Parenal Alienation" the same thing?

No. "Parental Alienation" is a disfavored term because there is very little court-admissible research defining it and tracking it's impact on children. There is plenty of research on "Parental Interference" and it is far easier to prove.

Why Lauren S. Harris for Parental Interference?

Contempt & Enforcement

If a court order is being ignored, we file for Contempt of Court. We seek to hold the interfering parent accountable through fines, make-up parenting time, and in extreme cases, incarceration.

Combating Parental Alienation

We recognize the signs of psychological manipulation early. We work with specialized mental health professionals to document 'alignment' behaviors and intervene before the parental bond is permanently severed.

Right of First Refusal Violations

If the other parent is leaving the child with third parties instead of offering you your contracted time, we aggressively enforce 'First Refusal' clauses to maximize your actual time with your children.

Emergency Temporary Orders

When interference escalates to a total 'blackout' of communication or withholding the child, we pursue Ex Parte or Emergency orders to restore access and stabilize the child’s environment.

Electronic Communication Access

Parental rights include the right to phone and video calls. We secure specific, enforceable windows for digital contact to ensure you remain a daily presence in your child’s life.
